the text links on the very bottom of every page. Links exist
on every major page related to page content.
SITE
DIRECTORY: A simple alphabetical listing of the major
pages in RindaRealm.
CREDITS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Links to websites,
freeware, and software used to build RindaRealm.
WEBSITE BUILDING
TOOLS: A list of recommended links, should you wish to
build your own website from scratch!
FAQ: Frequently
asked questions in RindaRealm.
LEGAL
CONCERNS: RindaRealm is not responsible
for content on the off-site links in RindaRealm; however,
Rinda reviews and
monitors her links carefully and frequently for possible
offensive content and tries to keep this site safe for young
people and their families. Rinda does not solicit the
names and addresses of children or teenagers for mailing lists
and makes no overt, aggressive attempts to sell her words or
works directly to younger people online. Pages in
RindaRealm specifically designated for children do not contain
overt advertising. Rinda's blog,
rindawriter, serves as her newsletter.
Should a child or a teenager comment or ask
questions on rinda's blog, rindawriter, Rinda may, for the sake of the
young person's online safety, delete the post, but she may
then respond to questions of general interest to all in
her FAQ or in new blog posts. She will not reveal by a
response whether or not the questioner was a child or a
teenager.
Rinda is not a mental health
therapist. She is not a social worker or a religious
leader or a school counselor, and she is not a
parent. She encourages children and teenagers to talk
about private concerns with trustworthy adults in their own
communities and with good, young friends in real time rather
than to take online counseling from unknown adults with whom
young people can have no real-time, personal relationships.
Rinda does not share people's names and
addresses or other personal information that may be obtained
from this site or from her blog with anyone. She keeps all
such information strictly private. She treasures her own
privacy and consequently respects the privacy of
others. SITE SAFETY/PRIVACY: COPPA:
Link to the Children's Online Privacy Protection
Act. Again, Rinda does not solicit or collect personal
information from children or teenagers at all. She does have
many free resources and recommended links for young
people on RindaRealm. She will delete comments and/or
questions on her blog from
younger readers if she finds material contained within those
that can identify a young person online such as an e-mail, a
photo, an address, a last name, or a specific age.
Again, pages in RindaRealm which have been created
specifically for the use of younger readers contain no overt
advertising. Click on this logo, left, to
find a fun, useful, child-oriented explanation of COPPA.
Great for parents and teachers, too!
Safer Child: A portal site: Nice
list of filtering and monitoring software for parents.
Lists many other recommended other websites about
child safety on the Internet. Short, simple articles on
the same topic. Also long, interesting lists of
articles and links about other child safety topics.
SafeSurf: RindaRealm is approved by this
commercial site, but you should evaluate the lists of safe
sites here carefully on your own. Many contain large
amounts of commercial advertising that is aggresively and
overtly focused on products for younger children and/or their
families. It is often difficult to discern what is
advertising and what is not on some of these sites. You
should always be aware that not all off-site links may
be safe, either in RindaRealm or in other SafeSurf-approved
sites.
