new things in RindaRealm
Rinda is going to work for the
Washington Reading Corps!
My personal blog has moved
to http://www.rindawriter.wordpress.com AND I
have a new, first-aid blog for writers at Well
Scribed Words
Still
in its seedling stage, RindaRealm is growing all the time.

ABOUT RINDA: I own
a B.A. in sociology (with minors in theology, history, and early
childhood education) and twelve months of business school
training--with an "A" average! I have never gone to
computer school or to art school and have never gotten an M.F.A.in
writing, but I am an expert copy editor and
transcriptionist. I have owned my own business for
over twenty years but do refuse to copy edit my personal
blog, rindawriter!
I am the published
writer of one picture book as well as essays and poems. I
taught preschool for two years where I discovered picture
books. I do get nervous when speaking to adults, but young people do
not scare me, and I love to tell stories to them.
In my
spare time, I compose songs (both lyrics and music), write
poetry, sew, design art quilts, and try to keep up with my
ever-increasing and very large, extended family. For
relaxation, I like to take long walks, read, shop for antiques
and collectibles, browse bookstores and libraries, watch movies
with my husband, take ferry rides, goof off with
girlfriends, talk with my teen friends, gaze at stars...and play
with my kitties. I have taken care of other people's children,
on and off, as a babysitter, preschool teacher, and volunteer
teacher since I was fourteen. I have a secret desire to learn
tap dancing and dream, one day, of visiting Chartes
Cathedral. My favorite vocal group right now is Anonymous 4,
and my favorite children's books are the "Chronicles of
Narnia." The book that I have read the most is the
Bible.
I like to drink coffee in coffeshops and write or
daydream rather than garden or clean house. Only nasturtiums, basil,
marigolds, irises, and dandelions survive around me, but I
do bake excellent chocolate chip cookies, gingerbread, and
buffalo meat loaf. Chocolate is not a food for me--it is a
daily vitamin!
rindawriter: My personal blog where
you can find out much more about me and all the new
things in my life. Also check out the FAQ
page.
The Good and the
Bad of Website Design: A fun-to-read, lighthearted look at
good and bad website design. I don't, in my own website
design philosophy, adhere strictly to all the "no-no's" listed
here. I like to intrigue my visitors a little now and
again...
Nvu: My darling, lovely, delicious,
little, webpage editor--an open-source, hybrid WYSIWYG
and HTML code editor. I also use WebEditor from Trellian Wordpress: My free blog host with open
source software and NO advertising! Lovely. Netfirms: My website host, highly
recommended. I pay $70 a year for my domain name and
twelve months of reliable hosting and file storage here.
Netfirms specializes in small businesses. They do not
demand rights to the original content of your
website. If you have technical problems with getting
your site online here, you can call a support person and
actually get an answer in real
time--amazing!

SITE
DESIGNER: Rinda
M. Byers designed this web site with freeware and free
online tools...all by herself! She and her husband, Doug,
took the photos in Rinda Realm (except for the photo of the
cover of "Mycca's Baby" from an e-Bay site and the photos of Rinda
as a young child and other older family photos). Rinda also
designed the cartoon graphics (except for the ones linking to other
websites) and used online generators to make customized buttons. She
wrote all of the text.
